Kensington Maryland Kitchen Design Remodel
Kitchen design in a small space is always a challenge. In this case the solution was pretty straight forward. Remove the wall between kitchen and dining room and turn a full bath into a half bath. The owner and most of us seem to use our dining room tables for formal events only once or twice a year. Generally the table gets used for other purposes, crafts, homework, storage etc.. The wall was removed; a casual eating area was incorporated by extending the counter top. This still left room for a small breakfast nook table.
The bathroom on the first floor was a third bath which potentially would give the kitchen design and additional 32″ of space. Pulling the kitchen back did necessitate relocating the window to recenter it over the corner sink and therefore redoing the siding.
The other kitchen remodeling challenge was not a surprise… in Kensington MD. The houses are older than most suburban houses. There are multiple generations of mechanical electrical and plumbing which had to be contended with.

The semi-custom kitchen cabinetry was Medallion Silverline, a Carlise door, maple species and a divinity classic white painted finish. The counter top was a Vermont soapstone top. The floor wide plank and hand scraped. The back splash a classic subway tile.
