Howard County Kitchen Design Remodel
Recently finished a kitchen remodel for the Dowlings in Clarksville, Howard County MD. The kitchen designer who worked on the project, discusses the kitchen design with this Howard County homeowner in a video interview which is posted on Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths Youtube channel but can also be seen to the right.
When the Dowlings moved into their current home, they figured the kitchen was functional, if not fantastic, and that they would remodel it somewhere down the line. Fast forward 13 years and Carol and her husband decided they’d lived with the outdated kitchen long enough.

“The kitchen cabinets were very out of date… the house was built in the 1980’so you know oak and soffits so the builder would not have to spend a penny more than necessary on the kitchen cabinetry” said Carol. “The kitchen design was also out of date. We had to walk around the kitchen island to get to the sink & cook top it was ridiculous. The way things were arranged just was not functional at all.” The kitchen’s inefficiencies was one of the Dowlings’ biggest reasons for starting the kitchen remodeling process.
“When we first moved up to Howard County and found this home in Clarksville the kitchen was OK – it wasn’t horrible or falling apart or anything,” Carol said. Chuck & Carol decided that they were going to have to eventually design & remodel the kitchen or the house would not sell when the time came. Not that they were think of selling but they might as well get a few years of enjoyment out of it before they did.
That’s where Signature Kitchens Additions & Baths came in. Chuck & especially Carol were unsure of how to fix the kitchen design or what cabinet styles would look the best.”That’s what we relied on kitchen designer at Signature for.” Carol said. The designer presented a traditional kitchen design concept, complete with warm, granite countertops and soft, wooden textures. The traditional style fit in especially well with the rest of the home and the Dowlings’ neighborhood in Howard County, MD.

The kitchen cabinetry Chuck and Carol chose was Medallion Cabinetry, the door was Brookhill and the stain was ginger. The counter top was granite by Norwood Marble & Granite.
